German designer Moritz Bannach is a rising contemporary talent who won the 2019 German Design Award for his inaugural collection Uno just a year of launching his eponymous brand. His career began with a stint at dopo_domani, a prestigious Berlin-based interior design atelier, following his studies in landscape architecture. These experiences inform his aptitude for navigating a variety of scales and maintaining a nuanced attention to detail.
Inspired by the playful and colorful Memphis movement along with the purist minimalism of modernist pioneers like De Stijl and Le Corbusier, Bannach's designs exhibit a refined order and clarity as well as a certain joie de vivre. The Uno Collection is produced in collaboration with traditional German workshops that ensure high quality materials and craftsmanship—with strong, harmonious colors and structural durability.
