A highly decorative ashtray dating back to the 1970s. Made entirely of chromed metal with the exception of the pistil, faithfully reproduced in its dotted texture with a golden wetting. The decomposable metal structure is quite heavy, which makes it perfect to also use as a paperweight. Many famous brands created this type of ashtray "for guests" during the mid-twentieth century, a single and pleasant object that breaks down into six small ashtrays to give to guests, who can hold them in their hands as they walk or place them down thanks to the feet with which they are equipped. Of this type of ashtray, the one by Gucci (which you can find for sale on our dedicated page here on firstdibs) is certainly the most iconic but we have never come across one that reproduces a daisy as a flower. The daisy flower has always been generically associated with purity of mind and loyalty. with this same meaning, for example, Shakespeare uses daisies in his famous Hamlet. In Italy, millions of daisies were browsed by teenagers to find out whether their love was reciprocated or not. This tradition dates back to the thirteenth century, legend has it that the Queen of France Margaret peeled off a daisy petal for each day of waiting for her husband, King Louis IX who had been captured by the Saracens. When the king finally returned home, the queen gave him all the peeled petals, as a testimony of her devotion to her and of her waiting, spent wondering whether her husband still loved her or not. This item is in good vintage condition, with minimal signs of oxidation on the petals and the gold plating of the pistil. Reach out for any additional questions.
Posacenere altamente decorativo risalente agli anni '70.
