Antique grandfather clock with mechanical movement
The clock is housed in a solid wooden case made from oak with detailed carvings and star inlays. The style suggests traditional, craftsmanship typical of the 18th century.
The case is tall and narrow, with a rectangular lower section, a middle section and a decorative upper section that houses the dial.
The central section is decorated with a geometric carving in the center, surrounded by curved lines and stylized floral or star patterns. This type of decoration suggests careful craftsmanship.
The wood appears to be well preserved, with patina indicating age.
The front of the case has a glass door at the top that protects the dial and movement. An additional wooden panel with an oval opening provides a view of the pendulum that swings in the middle section of the housing.
The dial is classic round, with Roman numerals that are easy to read and set on a white background plate.
The hands are made of metal and have a traditional, delicate shape that belongs to the era.
In the upper part there is a star with a tail that swings parallel to the pendulum.
In the upper area of the dial there is a panel with pewter decorations.
The clockwork is a mechanical pendulum movement that is driven by the principle of weight. The clock has two weights connected with ropes.
Each weight has a specific function: one is responsible for the time mechanism (the pendulum and the hand), while the other drives the striking mechanism (when the clock strikes.
Inside the clock there is a pendulum hanging on a rod. The pendulum swings back and forth and controls the smooth movement of the gears. It ensures accurate time measurement and the accuracy of the movement.
