This is a wonderful Guardi's Triptyc, composed by three oval oil painted panels attributed by some of most reputable scholars to the Venetian old master Francesco Guardi (1712-1793). Dimensions of each item: 72 x 60 cm. A superb still life, realized by the "painter of flowers" as Roberto Longhi sustains in an expertise letter of the 22nd of July 1967: "La assoluta identità di fattura pittorica con due altri ovali, di formato alquanto maggiore da me riferiti nel 1959 alla attività di Francesco Guardi come pittore di fiori". "The absolute identity of a pictorial production with two other ovals, of somewhat larger size than I referred in 1959 to the activity of Francesco Guardi as a flower painter". "These three ovals representing flowers arranged in cascading vases from a dish (...), belong, as Professor Roberto Longhi has already stated with a written declaration (...) to the group of still lifes that currently the most qualified critics refer to Francesco Guardi, according to a proposal that was put forward for the first time by Giuseppe Fiocco and that over the years has seen an increase in consensus, including the brilliant production and technical data showing a date corresponding to the activity of Francesco Guardi". Provenance: Private collection, Switzerland. with an incredible line of fineness, from a compositional lightness and an apparent asymmetry in the structure, with a marked pre-Romantic sensibility, this is a precious old master's artwork as well as a rare example of still life painting by Guardi. Three ancient oval wooden frames are included, all in good conditions. Francesco Lazzaro Guardi (Venice, 1712 - 1793) The talented Venetian painter, unlike Canaletto, does not aim, in his paintings, at clear perception, but proposes an interpretation of the real subjective and evocative data, creating images of still lifes and evanescent cities, reaching pre-Romantic moods, thanks to the crumbling forms and melancholy shadows.
